A wet and windy Friday night gave way to a great, blustery day of Scouting in South Jersey when the second annual Pine Hill District Klondike Derby commenced on March 4th at Pine Hill Scout Reservation. Nearly 200 Scouts from 2 districts in Garden State Council formed 26 competition teams.

Derby Results
The Klondike Derby results included a lot of fun, some new friends, and of course, scores! Congratulations to the Raccoons of Troop 2022 for their top score in the Scout Division. Last year they placed fourth — that’s great improvement, Scouts! Placing first in the Senior Division was Team Gritty of Troop 2032. Last year they competed in the Scout division placing sixth — moving up a division and taking top prize is a great accomplishment! Each team also took the awards for Fastest Sled in their respective divisions!

Best Team Award
A Klondike Derby is designed to give Scouts the opportunity to apply their Scout skills in friendly competition. Along the way, Scouts are expected to also live by the Scout Oath and Law, work together, and practice productive communication. The Best Team Award is given to the team that shows the most spirit, teamwork, and leadership throughout the day, even if their performance at each skill station did not net them the most points. This year’s Best Team Award goes to Troop 7151. Way to go, Scouts!
