Incident Reporting – Garden State Council

When an incident occurs, act quickly and follow these steps:

STEP ONE:

Ensure the safety of anyone injured and move them to a safe location if needed.

STEP TWO:

Preserve and document the scene, including photos where appropriate.

STEP THREE:

Complete an incident report and notify your local council promptly.

Timely, clear, and complete incident reports allow for the right response, support program improvement, and help keep our Scouting community safe.

Incident Information Reporting Tool

For all injuries, illnesses, and incidents during Scouting activities or on council-owned properties that require medical attention beyond basic Scout-rendered first aid.

For all allegations of abuse, violations of Scouting America guidelines or policies, or inappropriate behavior by a Scout, leader, parent, or other individual.

Near Miss Incident Information Reporting Tool

For near misses in programs such as COPE and climbing activities. A near miss is any incident that did not result in injury or damage but had the potential to do so. Reporting near misses helps identify opportunities to strengthen safety practices across our programs.

After submitting your report, notify the Garden State Council directly.
