Volunteer with Garden State Council

Scouting runs on people who show up, give their time, and believe in helping young people grow. Volunteers are the backbone of the Garden State Council, supporting programs, units, events, training, and the overall Scouting experience across South Jersey.

Whether you have a few hours a month or want to take on a larger leadership role, there is a place for you in Scouting. Every skill, background, and level of experience can make a difference.

Ways to Get Involved

There are many ways to support Scouting, including:

  • Unit leadership support (packs, troops, crews, ships)
  • Event support such as camporees, day camps, and council activities
  • Merit badge counseling and skills instruction
  • Training and program support for adult volunteers
  • District and council committees
  • Fundraising and outreach efforts
  • Camping and outdoor program support

What You'll Need

Most volunteer roles require:

  • A completed volunteer application
  • Youth Protection Training (online)
  • A background check authorization
  • Role-specific training, depending on your position

The Garden State Council is a proud charity beneficiary of the ShopRite LPGA Classic, and we need volunteers to help manage parking, shuttles, and course marshaling during the tournament. Volunteers enjoy complimentary breakfast and lunch vouchers, and scheduling can be tailored to your availability.

Support Our Scouting Troops

Support can take many forms: Donate through Friends of Scouting, purchase popcorn or camp cards from a local Scout, attend our Women of Achievement dinner or regional Citizenship Awards dinners, and so much more. Your support of Scouting enables Garden State Council to support the experiences of nearly 5,000 youth throughout South Jersey!
